Counting Down

School is wrapping up, and in four weeks I'll be in boot camp in Florida. Yesterday I cut my hair (the better to wash it in a bucket with) and I'm rounding up the last of my supplies.

Included in those supplies: dresses. The culture in Zambia demands it. That will be a big change for me.

As if everything else won't be.

No showers. No internet. The only book I am allowed to bring is my Bible, and that, missionary biographies provided by TMI, and letters from home will be my only reading material.
I can only wonder what all this will be like, and how it will change me.

Done!

It's May 15. The deadline for my support money.

And the grand total is......

Five thousand, seven hundred twenty-five dollars!

That's about a thousand dollars over the amount I needed to raise! Now my parents can be reimbursed for my flights to and from the base camp in Florida and my supplies.

Now the support raising is over. I leave for boot camp on May 20, in just over a month. I'm going to post at least once a week now, focusing on my preparation for the trip.
I think I've already said this, but while I'm on the trip I'm going to write letters back for my mom to transcribe to this blog. No internet access for me this summer!

$5,725! Thanks everyone!
